Eight year old girl D.Monkhzul and a boy of the same age Yu.Togstomor from Mongolia have won gold and silver medals at the World Youth Chess Championship.
The events ran in Durban city of South Africa September 20-29 with a participation of over thousand boys and girls of 8-18 years representing 90 countries.
Among 64 chessplayers in the 8 year category, Mongolian boy Togstomor who is Asian Champion, World Pupil Champion and candidate master of FIDE -- had a draw after 11 games with Makoveev from Russia at the final game. However, the latter shown superiority in overall scores.
In the girls 8 year category among 51 players, Monkhzul has gained eight wins, one draw and two defeats and has won the gold medal with 8.5 points. She was followed by Lu Ha Bi Ngo from Vietnam and Ezizova from Turkmenistan.
