The Mongolian national team for judo has showed historical results at the latest Judo Asian Championship, which ended on Sunday in Tashkent of Uzbekistan.
In the events, which gathered 235 judokas from 30 countries, Mongolia won 4 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronze medals in the men and women’s 11 weight categories.
A Hero of Labor, Olympic gold and silver medalist N.Tuvshinbayar has gained a gold medal in the men’s -100kg by winning his rivals from Japan, Pakistan and Iran. In the finals, he beats a judoka of the host nation Soyib Kurbanov.
Other gold medals went to D.Altansukh (men’s -66kg), N.Dagvasuren (men’s -81kg) and D.Sumiya (women’s -57kg).
2013 World champion M.Urantsetseg grabbed a silver in the women’s -48kg. At the finals, she was beaten by G.Otgontsetseg, a former judoka of the Mongolian national team and a current representation of Kazakhstan.
Bronze medals went to 6 mongolian athletes and other six judokas took the 5th place.
Both men’s and women’s teams won silver medals in the team contests.
