On Tuesday, Mongolia’s team officials have made an official protest against the decision of judges in favour of boxer from South Korea, the host nation of the Asian Games. Our team leaders call for fair play and correct judging in boxing sport. But Mongolia’s official appeal was rejected.
There was an apparent fraud when our boxer Tugstsogt was fighting against South Korea’s Ham Sang-Myeong in the men’s 56kg quarter-final bout. Despite the apparent victory of Mongolian athlete, the judges gave the win to host country boxer.
There was another case of unfair judging during the bout for the silver medal between Mongolian women boxer M.Nandintsetseg and a boxer from Kazakhstan.
Coaches, athletes and boxing fans from many countries disagreed with these decision of judges and had expressed their protest against boxing judges who give more points to the boxers from South Korea and Kazakhstan.
Besides that, feelings of discontent had already spread widely after series of incidents offending mongolians when the national flag of Mongolia was displayed upside down, a dirty sanitary napkin was found in a meal of Mongolian national judo athletes.
