One of the main symbols of the winter competition Universiade Torch will be lit up in Astana on January 25. Then, the symbol will visit all regions of the country. The rehearsal of the procession was held in Almaty. Torch relay is the most spectacular event that precedes such major international competitions as the Olympics and the Universiade. According to the scenario, outstanding athletes will participate in the torch relay and pass the Universiade symbol to another city. After that, the opening ceremony will be held in Almaty. According to organizers, the Universiade is not just a sporting event. Each year, active sports bring together more and more young people.

It is very important for us to bring our youth together, those who are 17, 18 and 20 years old now, so they communicated in their environment, in the sports project. We are proud to show the world that our students are advanced, technologically literate, they speak foreign languages.

In total, 140 torches were made for the torch relay. They are made in a minimalist style. We ordered them in Australia in a company that has been working with the Olympic movement since the year of 2000. Fire will be transported in special flasks that meet international standards. This design worked well in the Olympics.
