Next year, the biggest Vocational Education event or World Skills International competition will be held for the first time in Latin America or in San Paulo, Brazil. Formerly known as the "Skill Olympics" this event is organized once every two years and next year it will gather more than 70 countries and regions, involving more than 1,000 competitors who will compete in 45 skill categories
Team of Mongolia that will compete in 9 skill categories have already started training.
At the World Skills General Assembly that was held from the 12th to the 19th of September in Lucerne, Switzerland, Mongolia has joined WorldSkills International (WSI) as its 69th member and has received the right to participate in the World Skills San Paulo-2015 Competition.
By joining this organization Mongolia aims to improve vocational education and training system, to develop and to try out the skills of Mongolian young workers, to learn from the international experience, to exchange skills and technological innovations in order to prepare skilled workers, who match the needs of the labour market.
Last year, Mongolia prepared about 6,000 skilled workers at vocational training centres, this number has increased to 6,500 this year. To improve the skills of workers, the country has started National Skill Competitions among these students.
