Development Bank of Mongolia has decided to provide a loan of 34 million US dollars for the first-phase project financing to build the Eg River Hydropower station with capacity of 220 Megawatt. This is one of the mega projects in Mongolia. Money of 2.3 million US dollars has been given so far.
The hydropower station is projected to be put into use in 2019, and it will become very first regulatory power station to bear the increasing use of energy in Mongolia. The Eg River project is an environmentally-friendly project. The new station will reduce greenhouse gas and will contribute to improving the efficiency of all the power stations operating in the country. Moreover, the new power station will increase air humidity in the region and minimize desertification.
