​Commerce Ministry to promote IT products, services in Cambodia

BANGKOK, Jan 85 (TNA) -- Ms Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat, the director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) attached to the Ministry of Commerce announced today that the ministry was pushing for Thai businesses to break into the booming IT sector in Cambodia. She said that at present Cambodia has made tremendous progress in its domestic telecommunications infrastructure not least with regards to mobile telephone and Internet services. Forty five percent of 15 million Cambodians currently have been provided with IT connectivity. Even more promising are statistics that indicate that more and more state agencies and Cambodian businesses are utilising mobile phone applications to support their operations, contributing to the popularity of IT gadgets. Wireless signals equipment, micro processor and interface boxes, programs and software development and Apps operating systems (OS) are in very high demand and presents a golden opportunity for Thai businesses to gain a strong foothold in Cambodia.
