‘Azerbaijani wines to force their way into Japanese market’

Tokyo, April 17 (AzerTAc). “We believe that Azerbaijani wines with ancient and rich history will find their way into the Japanese market,” President of Japan`s Orient Star company Keizo Okada has told AzerTAc`s correspondent. He noted he met an Azerbaijani businessman while running a fishery business in Kamchatka. “This man named Misir noted he is into the wine-making business in Azerbaijan and expressed assurance that his wines would be a success in Japan.” Okada said Azerbaijani wines had not been sold so far in Japan and the Japanese travelling to the South Caucasus claim the local wines are wonderful. He pointed out that the Orient Star company decided to launch first test sales of wines produced by Shamkir-based Eastern Star factory. Okada noted that the first batch of wine delivered to Japan in December last year is already on sale in the Japanese markets. “The sales of the Azerbaijani wines in Tokyo and other cities of Japan will help study people`s response to Azerbaijani wines. The second batch of wines is scheduled to be delivered providing that sales of the first batch are doing well.” He noted that the products put on display at the Foodex Japan exhibition aroused great interest of the visitors. According to Okada, Azerbaijani wines showcased for the third time at the exhibition are popular with the visitors. “The first samples were sent to Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama and Sapporo.” “The pricing of Azerbaijani wines is being determined,” Okada pointed out.
