124 airlines provide services at Suvarnabhumi Airport during high tourist season

BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) -- An overall atmosphere at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province, near Bangkok, is lively during the current high season as altogether 124 airlines are providing more than 969 flights daily while it is projected that more than 160,000 passengers are using the service a day, said Sirote Duangratana, General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport. High season has started since October 25 and ends March 26 next year and, according to time table, 96 passenger airlines, nine cargo airlines and 19 code sharing airlines will operate during this winter season, Mr Sirote said. Four new commercial airlines will start operations during this winter, he said. They comprised one each from China, Germany, Maldives and Thailand. Because of the increase in the number of airlines operating during this year’s winter, the airport projects that the number of international flights would increase to 116,000, up 18 per cent from last year’s, and the domestic flights would rise to 32,000 flights, an increase of 25 per cent, said Mr Sirote. It is estimated that some 24.8 million people would travel during the high season, he added. (TNA)
