1st Intˈl ROPME Confab Begins In Kish Island

Tehran, March 4, IRNA – The first International Conference on Environmental Challenges in the ROPME Sea Area began in the southern Iranian Island of Kish on Sunday. Head of Iranˈs Environment Organization Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh, Qatari minister of environment, secretary of Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) as well as a number of related officials from several world countries were present in the inauguration ceremony of the event. The United Nations Environment Program chief was also present in the ROPME conference. An official said the ROPME conference aims to prepare a road map for the future activities of the Organization. Representatives from Iran, Iraq, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Thailand, Hungary, Germany, Japan, US and India are attending the four-day event./end
