20 Thai food SMEs to introduce their products in Japan

BANGKOK, July 20 (TNA) -- The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) expects 20 small and medium-sized enterprises in the Thai food sector to visit Japan for marketing campaigns in September. OSMEP director-general Suwanchai Lohawatanakul said his office presented 90 Thai food SMEs for Japan Airlines’ catering arm Jaluk Inc to choose for participation in a fair in Nagasaki on long holidays on Sept 20-25. Jaluk would shortlist the entries into 20 and if the selected SMEs passed Japanese standard, they would have a green light to join the fair in Nagasaki, he said. In the fair, Thai SMEs would have opportunities to have first-hand experiences in the behaviors and lifestyles of Japanese consumers. Mr Suwanchai said the nominated SMEs included those producing snacks, health drinks, seasonings, processed meat and fruits, food ingredients and ready-to-eat foods. The OSMEP director-general added that his office also planned to promote Thai SMEs in China, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. (TNA)
