23m Oil Barrels Exported From Siri Island Last Year: Official

Tehran, Sep 13, IRNA – An Iranian official announced here on Saturday that some 23 million barrels of oil, worth $2.3 billion, were exported from Siri Island in the Persian Gulf during the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2014). Speaking to IRNA, head of Siri Island oil operation region underscored that this area has the capacity to produce 150,000 barrels of oil per day. Reza Haqiqi added that currently 68,000 barrels of oil are produced in the region per day. Although, Siri Island is considered as an outlying island in the Persian Gulf region, it has brought great income to the country. Iran holds the world's third-largest proven oil reserves and the second-largest natural gas reserves./end
