29 Projects Worth US$9.21 Billion Inked At Beijing-HK Economic Cooperation Symposium

By Samantha Tan Chiew Ting BEIJING, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Twenty-nine cooperation projects worth US$9.21 billion were inked at the two-day 19th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium, which opened last Friday. The Information Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government said the projects covered various sectors, including subway construction and public service management. On its website Monday, it said, the deals were expected to bring sales income of over US$1.71 billion (11 billion yuan) and US$187.58 million (1.2 billion yuan) tax revenue to Beijing over the next two years. The two-day symposium, which opened in Hong Kong, is expected to prompt more collaborations between Beijing and Hong Kong in several fields and is seen as the most important platform for both two cities. Under the themes of "Sharing Resources", "Two-way Investment", "Sharing Opportunities" and "Prompting Mutual Prosperity", the symposium was centered around six areas related to Beijing's opening up of its services sector. These areas include science and technology, Internet and information services, culture and education, business and travel, financial services, and healthcare. --BERNAMA
