By Rosemarie Khoo and Nuramalina Ebrahim KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- About 400 business matching meetings will be held between Belgian and Malaysian companies during the three-day Belgium Economic Mission to Malaysia beginning Sunday. Belgian Trade Commissioner Eric de Lame said apart from the meetings there would also be informal or organic business meetings on spice cake, non-alcoholic including pralines and waffles products. The seminar focused on three industrial sectors namely clean technology solutions for modern cities; healthcare - diagnosis tools, electronics devices and treatment on three dimension devices; and agro-food - the food safety, quality and innovation. Earlier, the Vice-President and Minister of Economy Industry Innovation and New Technologies of the Walloon Government Jean Claude Marcourt told seminar participants that Brussels aimed to collaborate with Malaysia to produce halal food products in Belgium. Malaysia is among the biggest exporter of halal food to Europe and the halal industry market in Belgium was developing between six and eight percent, annually, she said. Malaysia imported US$119.19 million (96.13 million euros) worth of food items mainly chocolates and diary products last year.
