43rd BIG+BIH Fair kicks off

BANGKOK, April 20 (TNA) -- The 43rd Bangkok International Gift Fair 2017 and Bangkok International Houseware Fair 2017 (BIG+BIH 2017), one of the ASEAN’s leading international trade fairs for trendy gifts and lifestyle products, kick off in Bangkok on Wednesday. The event held from April 19-23 is started off with two trade days before it is opened to the public on the weekend. The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Ministry of Commerce are working with the Thai Lifestyle Products Federation and Design & Objects Association coorganized the BIG+BIH 2017. The fairs were expected to generate revenue for the industry as over 45,000 prospective buyers, architects and interior designers from around the world have participated in, Malee Choklumlerd, DITP Director-general, said. The fairs feature more than 400 Thai entrepreneurs in 1,200 booths. Ms Malee said she expected more than Bt800 million of cash flow would be generated during the fair alone. Lifestyle products are one of Thailand’s top exports, accounting for US$2.7 billion in export sales in 2016. Thailand’s lifestyle product exports were expected to grow 5 percent this year on the back of the positive trends of the country’s trade partners’ economy, the DITP reports, said Vinijchai Jamjaeng, Vice Minister for Commerce said.
