4.6 billion baht to be spent in Bangkok for vegetarian festival

BANGKOK, Sept 21 (TNA) – Kasikorn Research Center predicts 4.65 billion baht will be spent on foods and beverages in Bangkok during the vegetarian festival and consumers will be looking for foods with nutritional value. For the vegetarian festival from Oct 9 to 17, the research center expects the spending to increase 3.3% from the same period of last year. It also found from its survey that more people intended to practice vegetarianism during the festival and each vegetarian would spend 315 baht a day on foods. Most surveyed people in Bangkok would buy vegetarian food from vendors for conveniences as their life is rushing. Tastes, appearances and healthy features are main factors for surveyed buyers. The vegetarian food market has a bright prospect due to reported contamination with meat and health concern. Innovative recipes and materials could make vegetarian foods popular even outside the vegetarian food festival, Kasikorn Research Center said. (TNA)
