Abadi: Iraq Needs Alternatives To Oil Because Reliance On It Will Be A Flaw

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (NINA) - Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said Iraq needs oil alternatives because relying on it entirely would be a flaw. "The government has drawn up new plans to find alternative revenues for oil as well as to benefit from the accompanying gas which was burned," Abadi said during his speech at the Iraqi Economic Development Conference, which was held today by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. Abadi stressed that "Iraq will win again in reconstruction and construction and create jobs through our uniting as we succeeded in the past in the war on Daesh and achieve security and stability." He praised the efforts to develop Iraq, which he expressed in (Iraq first), noting that this expression is not directed against any other country, but is a reason for cooperation with these countries for the benefit of Iraq. "Iraq first means more development, job creation, investment and economic development," he said. He stressed that Iraq has gone through wars and siege, therefore it does not stop with the siege of any country as a result of what happened to the citizens of Iraq previously. Abadi explained that the demands of citizens are being responded and in each of the meetings of the Council of Ministers there are decisions for a number of provinces and we have formed a committee of reconstruction and services to consider these demands and implement them. He pointed out that Iraq needs alternatives to oil because dependence on it will be a complete flaw, noting that the government has developed new plans to find alternative revenues for oil as well as benefit from the accompanying gas, which was burning. Abadi said that sustainable development projects are those who can provide jobs and eliminate unemployment and we are going to do this. He also said that the world believes that it has an interest with Iraq because Iraq today is strong and has the ability to rise./ end
