ADB:Next Year's general election should boost Thai economy

BANGKOK, April 20 (TNA) - The Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB) foresees that Thailand should experience positive impacts from the country's new general election, expected to be held in late 2018. Luxmon Attapich, ADB's senior economist to Thailand, told journalists of the projection on Thursday, noting that there has been no disruption in economic policies in the Thai Kingdom despite several changes in the Thai government. "As long as the Thai government has its capacity in the disbursement of state budgets to fund its mega-investment projects with no disruption, the Thai economy should keep growing without any worrying", the ADB senior economist pointed out. The ADB senior economist forecast that investment in Thailand should expand by 3-4 per cent over the next two years. The ADB senior economist also said that Thailand's inflation should slightly increase this year to 1.8-2.0 per cent, boosted by rising world oil prices, but the country's inflation rates remain low with no worrying.
