Afghanistan Imports From Iran Hit $5.5b

Tehran, July 13, IRNA – Afghan Ambassador to Tehran Nasir Ahmad Nour said Saturday that Afghanistan imported some dlrs 5.5 billion worth of oil and non-oil commodities from Iran during the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2013). Ahmad Nour put the value of oil and non-oil commodities at $2.5 billion and dlrs 3 billion respectively, adding the figures showed 15 percent increase compared to those of three years ago. Describing Iran-Afghanistan trade transactions as growing, he said Kabul is interested in making investments in Chabaharˈs free trade zone in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan. Thanks to its unique facilities, Chabaharˈs free trade zone will become the most important trade port in Central Asia in near future, he added./end
