All economic problems not related to sanctions: Daily

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA - 'Iran Daily' on Monday wrote that people should not expect transformation of the entire economy or the resolution of all the problems following a comprehensive nuclear agreement. Domestic problems which have been plaguing the economy have little to do with the nuclear sanctions, noted the English-language paper in its Opinion column. Therefore, they shouldn’t be completely linked to the crippling sanctions, it pointed out, noting that some people are seeking their own political objectives by creating such a negative psychological atmosphere in the country. They are promoting the idea that a final nuclear deal will bring general prosperity to the country and if the nuclear talks collapse, things will deteriorate further, it said. Undoubtedly, sanctions imposed by the US and the EU on Iran’s banking system and oil export in recent years caused many problems, fueling inflation and triggering severe recession, highlighted the paper. But the point is that all problems should not be blamed on Western sanctions since the country had many economic woes before they came into effect, it noted. Inflation is still high and recession is continuing. The economy needs to be fundamentally reformed through appropriate policies, suggested the paper. Despite the fact that Iran has fulfilled all its commitments under the interim deal and is fully cooperating with major world powers, excessive demands by the other side killed a final deal before the November 24 deadline./end
