All Parties Must Be Fair, Objective In TPPA Issues - Minister Mustapa

MELAKA (Malaysia), Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Critics of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) are urged to be fair and objective in assessing issues in thetrade pact to ensure they would not badly affect the country. Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed said the people should have an in-depth understanding of the TPPA before opposing and making considerations to ensure their views were fair. "We know what are the issues, we never said all (TPPA) are perfect...there are also those that are not good, may be. "I hope the people are fair, read and know the contents, and then make the considerations. What is important is we are being fair and willing to hear views from all parties," he told reporters here Friday. Mustapa said the government was prepared to listen to the views from various parties to achieve a consensus on the TPPA but these views needed to be communicated through the proper channel. Elaborating further, he said the government would only make a decision on the TPPA after taking into account the various considerations and views. --BERNAMA
