Almost 3m Tons Unprocessed Steel Produced In 1st 2 Months

Tehran, June 17, IRNA – Unprocessed steel production of Iran totaled 2,608,000 tons in the first two months of the year (starting March 21), showing a one percent growth compared to the figure for the same period the previous year. The private and public sectors in combination produced up to 2,881,000 tons of steel. In Ordibehesht, the second month in Iranian calendar, unprocessed steel production showed a 4.3 percent growth compared to the previous yearˈs production, standing at 1,321,000 tons. The public and private sectors both produced 1,414,000 tons of steel in Ordibehesht. Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Vajihollah Jaafari had already put increase in the steel ingot production capacity at three to four million tons. Jaafari hoped national steel production capacity would reach 22 million tons by the end of the year on March 20, 2014./end
