Ambassador: Iran, Russia to develop economic ties by trade tariff cuts

Moscow, Dec 7, IRNA – Iranian and Russian trade officials have envisaged a package to develop economic ties by cutting trade tariffs, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei on Wednesday. The package included reduction of customs tariffs, customs green passage, avoidance of double taxation and support for joint venture investment projects. He made the remarks to a conference on Iran-Russia economic ties in Astrakhan Province of Russia, northwest of the Caspian Sea. Sanaei said that presidents of the two countries have met nine times, in addition to constant telephone consultations to regulate trade and economic ties. Regular negotiations of the parliament speakers, ministers, security and defense officials have led to a practical process. The ambassador said that the agreements on facilitating issuance of visa and the plan agreed upon by Iran and Eurasia and North-South corridor is to develop relations not only with Russia, but the entire countries of the region. Sanaei added that in years 2015 and 2016 all necessary documents to enhance level of trade ties between Iran and Russia have been signed. Holding the current conference and exhibition in Astrakhan in presence of Tehran Governor General Hossein Hashemi and accompanying delegation and Iran's Consul General in Astrakhan Ali Mohammadi is an opportunity to expand commercial and trade cooperation between Iran and Russia, Sanaei added. 1378/IRNA
