ANA to Launch Narita-Mexico Direct Flights

Tokyo, Feb. 2 (Jiji Press)--All Nippon Airways President Osamu Shinobe announced Tuesday his company will launch direct flights linking Narita International Airport near Tokyo and Mexico City as early as this autumn. Shinobe told a press conference that ANA will prepare to realize the plan in the second half of fiscal 2016. The Japanese airline is expected to offer one round-trip flight per day on the route. ANA will be the first Japanese carrier to operate flights between Japan and Mexico in about seven years since Japan Airlines <9201> ended its services between the two countries in January 2010. Major Japanese automakers Nissan Motor Co. <7201>, Honda Motor Co. <7267> and Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> have built vehicle assembly plants in the Latin American country with cheap labor mainly for exports to the United States. ANA decided to open the Narita-Mexico route expecting business demand will expand. END
