Antam Cooperates With Direct Nickel

Jakarta, July 22 (Antara) - PT Antam Tbk. and Direct Nickel Ltd. have signed a cooperation agreement to develop nickel laterite mining and processing using DNi Process in Indonesia. The signing of the agreement here on Monday followed the signing of the head of agreement on May 31, 2012, Antam said in a press statement. It said Antam and DNi would continue their cooperation in the operation of Test Plant belonging to DNi in Perth to produce nickel mixed hydroxide and jointly study the technical results of the Test Plant which is currently processing 200 tons of nickel laterite sample from Antam. If the results are positive, Antam and DNi wish to develop he first nickel processing plant in Indonesia using DNi Process, it said. Antam`s president director, Tato Miraza, said the cooperation has promising prospects to significantly increase efficiency and economies of scale in nickel laterite processing. "The agreement that was signed today reflects our effort to give an added value to the development of economies of scale of nickel deposits in Indonesia to support corporate growth in a sustainable way," he said.
