Any Proposals Involving Rail Operation Still In Preliminary Stage, Says Scomi

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Scomi Engineering Bhd Monday clarified that any proposals involving equity stake in its rail division are still in the preliminary and exploratory stages. The company Monday issued the statement to Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia's Stock Exchange) in response to news reports saying that the firms from China were keen on Scomi’s rail operation. "The company wishes to clarify that it continuously explores opportunities for the growth of businesses within its group, including its rail division. "We will make the appropriate announcement to Bursa Malaysia in accordance with the Main Market Listing Requirements," it added. Scomi Engineering's shares rose 10.5 sen to 42 sen with 5.49 million shares traded as at 2.09 pm. -- BERNAMA
