Arvand Free Zone Export To Iraq Set At $600m

Abadan, Aug 19, IRNA -- Arvand Free Zone Organization has set a target of $600 million in exports from the region to Iraq for the current Iranian year (began on March 21). Deputy head of the organization for economic affairs, Ali Mousavi told IRNA said on the sidelines of the first panel discussion reviewing Iranian exports to Iraq that the volume of exports from Arvand Free Zone to Iraq has increased from $102 million last year to $176 during the first four months of the current Iranian year, up by 73 percent compared to the figure for the corresponding period last year. Cement, brick, ceramics, automobile, motorcycle, sanitary ware, various types of drinks, foodstuff and agriculture products account for a large portion of exports to the neighboring country, Mousavi said. Presenting approaches to solving problems and hurdles to exports and promote awareness of businessmen about the Iraqi economic potentials were among the objectives of the panel of discussion./end
