ASEAN Economic Ministers Visit Rantau Panjang ICQS Complex

PASIR MAS (Kelantan, Malaysia), March 2 (Bernama) -- ASEAN economic ministers wrapped up their last day of the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Retreat Sunday with a visit to the Rantau Panjang Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex here. The visit was aimed at getting a first-hand look at movement of goods, vehicles and people, as well as, issues at the border of Kelantan with southern Thailand. Upon arrival at 3.15 pm, they attended a 45-minute briefing by Royal Malaysian Customs Department director-general Khazali Ahmad. Economic ministers from ASEAN member states gathered in Kota Baharu from Friday until Sunday for a crucial meeting to advance plans for the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community. The retreat, one of the many ASEAN meetings held in conjunction with Malaysia's leadership of ASEAN in 2015, was chaired by International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed.
