ASEAN-India Biztech Expo, Conference To Strenghten ASEAN, India Relations

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- The ASEAN India Business Council (AIBC) is organising the ASEAN India Biztech Expo and Conference 2017 on May 24-25 featuring a 'Digitise Expo' concept. Themed, 'Bridging Borders Through Business', the two-day event, held for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, aimed to strengthen existing trade cooperation between ASEAN and the Indian business community. "This year is the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-India relations. "Many commemorative events have been outlined by ASEAN and India to celebrate the establishment of the formal dialogue mechanism between ASEAN and India," said AIBC Co-Chair, Ramesh Kodammal in a statement. Ramesh said the event, expected to be officiated by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, would comprise a conference, exhibition and an anniversary gala dinner. The exhibition is expected to attract over 5,000 trade visitors. He said the conference would feature speakers from the world’s renowned business personalities including the Indian Communication and Information Technology, Law and Justice Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad and the Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. For the exhibition, expected to draw some 5,000 trade visitors, there would be over 100 companies, inclusive of market leaders from various businesses and industry stakeholders namely from Malaysia, India, ASEAN countries and ASEAN Dialogue Partners. Meanwhile, 10 awards will be presented to recognise efforts made by leaders who have been proactive in helping strengthen ASEAN - India relationship the past 25 years. The ASEAN Business Advisory Council Malaysia (ASEAN-BAC) is co-organising the event with AIBC and is supported by the ministry, Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation of Commerce and Industry. Meanwhile, MITI Secretary-General J. Jayasiri said the event would be the highlight of the year's trade calendar and coincide with the silver jubilee of ASEAN-India relations. Jayasiri hoped that the event could spur greater interest among business groups from ASEAN and India. "This is due to the well-known expertise of ASEAN and Indian communities, resources and technology that could offer opportunities to expand the business landscape in the region. "The event is foreseen to be a good platform for business ventures for Malaysia, ASEAN and India to meet, network and form strategic alliances and grow their business in Malaysia, India and ASEAN," said Jayasiri.
