Assystem engineering group to assist Rosatom to obtain licenses on NPP construction in Egypt

MOSCOW, September 18. /TASS/. Assystem, an international engineering group, has signed the first contract with Russia’s state-run nuclear corporation Rosatom to support the development of the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project in El Dabaa in Egypt, Assystem said in a statement. "Assystem will assist the contractor of the project, AtomStroyExport, a key engineering company of the Rosatom Group, to obtain the necessary licenses and permits in order to build the NPP," the statement said. Assystem is committed to help newcomer countries to develop nuclear energy and partner major nuclear players in exporting their expertise beyond their own borders. As a key participant in the industry for over 50 years, Assystem supports its clients in managing their capital expenditure throughout their asset life cycles. Russia and Egypt signed an inter-governmental agreement to construct the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in November 2015. The facility consisting of four power units with 1,200 MW capacity each will be built in compliance with the EPC-contract (engineering, procurement and construction) that was signed between AtomStroyExport and Egypt’s Nuclear Power Plant Authority and came into force on December 11, 2017. The nuclear power plant will be built near the city of El Alamein on Egypt’s northern coast, 3.5 kilometers away from the Mediterranean Sea. Earlier reports said that the construction of all four units was planned to be completed in 2028-2029. Read more
