Attempts to improve Thailand’s ranking in doing business

BANGKOK, November 4 (TNA) - Attempts are being undertaken to improve Thailand’s ranking in doing business, as reported by the World Bank. Pongpan Jiarawiriyipan, Director-General of the ministry’s Department of Business Development, told journalists of the moves on Tuesday, in response to the US-based World Bank's recent report on "Doing Business 2016”: Measuring Regulatory Quality and Efficiency”, under which Thailand was ranked the 49th out of 189 nations worldwide, from the previous 47th place. Pongpan said government agencies have, actually, fastened services in establishing business firms and discussed on how unnecessary official procedures could be left out to speed up the process and facilitate business operators. According to the senior official, it is hoped that Thailand would be in a better position in the World Bank's next report, as innovative technology is used to provide faster services to business operators and the general public.
