Auto testing center to be completed in 2019

BANGKOK, April 2 (TNA) - The Industry Ministry expects the auto and tyre testing center is expected to be finished in 2019 as Thailand plans to a Research and Development hub for auto parts and tires in the ASEAN region. Industry Minister, Uttama Savanayana disclosed the progress of the 3.7 billion- baht project to construct the auto and tyre testing center in Chachoengsao that the center will be located on 1,200 rai or almost 500 acres of land. The Thai Industrial Standards Institute hired two firms to be project advisors and they have mapped out major plans and designed the space for the facilities since last August. It is expected that the tyre testing will be operational first by this year before the whole project will be completed in 2019. The center would help reduce operators’ testing costs and would attract automakers to increase R&D investment in Thailand. (TNA)
