Azerbaijan, Israel to sign cooperation agreement in agriculture

Azerbaijan, Baku, August 13 /Trend E. Aliyev / The final version of the draft Agreement on Cooperation between Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture and Israel's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, drawn up taking into consideration the comments and suggestions of relevant government structures, will be soon presented to the Israeli side. The remarks were made by Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov at a meeting held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Azerbaijan Rafael Harpaz, a report of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture said. According to the report, the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture. Referring the bilateral cooperation, Abbasov informed the Israeli Ambassador that in 2010-2012 the Agroleasing OJSC purchased four irrigation systems in Israel, which were installed in Goranboy (an area of 170 hectares) and Kurdamir (on the square 380 hectares) and Yevlakh (an area of 200 hectares) regions of Azerbaijan. In addition, it was reported that in 2011-2012 the Agroleasing OJSC bought two greenhouse complexes from the Israeli company Netafim. The complexes covered the area of two hectares each and were installed in Absheron and Samukh regions. The Minister also presented the proposals to the Israeli side for the development of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, the sharing the experience in various specialized fields, as well as organize joint seminars and symposia. In turn, Harpaz expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side, noting that he would make every effort for further development of Azerbaijani-Israeli relations in the field of agriculture. In addition, the Israeli Ambassador invited Ismat Abbasov to take part in the international agricultural exhibition VATEC, which will be held in October 2013 in Israel. Do you have any feedback?
