Azerbaijan joins World Telecommunication Development Conference in Dubai

Baku, April 3 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Communications and High Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov has attended the opening session of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Dubai, the UAE. Minister Abbasov, in his speech, highlighted the Azerbaijani government`s work to develop ICT sector. He stressed the international importance of TASIM and EPEG projects. The event was attended by ministers and delegates from 36 member countries of the ITU. As part of the visit, Abbasov met his counterparts from Iran, Poland, Egypt and Uganda. He has held meetings with the ITU Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, as well as representatives of telecommunications companies. The theme of WTDC-14 is "Broadband for Sustainable Development". The objective of WTDC-14 is to establish work programs and guidelines for defining telecommunication development questions and priorities and to provide direction and guidance for the work program of the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) over the next four-year period. WTDC-14 is preceded by an Executive Strategic Dialogue on Broadband for Sustainable Development.
