Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, China Road and Bridge Corporation sign memorandum

Beijing, February 8, AZERTAC Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) have signed a memorandum, within the framework of the visit of Azerbaijani delegation consisting of officials and businessmen headed by Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev to the People's Republic of China. At the meeting, head of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Javid Gurbanov informed about Trans-Caspian East-West Trade and Transit Corridor. stressing that the corridor is an important route for China and Europe, one of the world's largest markets. He also emphasized that the Trans-Caspian corridor is expanding the diversification of routes and is one of the corridors of Europe's priority. Participating countries are taking steps consistently by the state in the direction of further development of this corridor, currently, the railway infrastructure in the Trans-Caspian corridor is renewed, marine ports and shipping companies are being developed, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have built and put into operation new ports in the Caspian Sea, as well as the free trade zones has been established on route, Javid Gurbanov told. Gurbanov presented information on the transport projects being implemented in Azerbaijan, the efficiency of the route and the advantages of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. "The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will contribute to the expansion of cargo transportation between Europe and Asia by contributing to the development of cooperation and trade, not just between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, but also in the Eurasia region. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is the shortest route between China and Europe, being an integral part of the Trans-Caspian corridor. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway reduces freight costs by Trans-Caspian corridor, significantly reducing cargo deliveries, Gurbanov added.
