Baku to host Startup Weekend `14

Baku, April 18 (AzerTAc). Startup Weekend Baku will commence today in capital Baku for the second time. The event, which has taken place in more than 200 cities around the world, will gather entrepreneurs, marketing specialists, designers and programmers that will form teams and present the jury with new projects. The Bakutel International Exhibition and Conference of Telecommunications and Information Technologies will provide support for the event. It offers opportunities to young specialists to describe their inventions, programmes and services as part of the biggest ICT event in Azerbaijan and the Caspian region. There has been a lot of attention given to startups at the exhibition for many years. They are provided with special stands, under the initiative of the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the exhibition organizer Iteca Caspian. This event, to run till April 10, will lay ground for entrepreneurs to build their network, co-founder dating, learn a new skill, get face time with thought leaders, join a global community and actually launch a business. A certificate will be issued for an exhibitor stand at Bakutel 2014, which will take place at the Baku Expo Centre from December 2 to 5.   Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world. The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From South Africa to London to Brazil to Azerbaijan, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
