Bali's Exports Up 4.16 Pct

Denpasar, Bali, Sept 5 (Antara) - Bali`s exports in the first seven months of 2014 rose 4.16 percent to US$300.95 million from US$288.93 million in the same period last year. The export hike was chiefly fueled by home industry, which contributed US$104.68 million or 34.78 percent of the overall exports, according to data from the Bali provincial industry and trade office on Friday. The exports from home industry represented a 2.29 percent increase compared with US$102.34 million in the same period last year. Household handicraft industry contributed US$133.15 million to the overall exports, up 11.48 percent from US$119.44 million in the January-July 2013 period. Handicraft industry, which comprises 14 different commodities, made up 44.24 percent of the total non-oil/non-gas exports. The export of plantation products was recorded at US$1.34 million in the January-July 2014 period, a 138.25 percent surge compared with US$563,924.56 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, fisheries and maritime sector contributed US$61.14 million or 20.32 percent of the overall exports. However, the export of other commodities declined to US$ 625,597.79 from US$1.80 million. Head of the Central Statistics Agency office in Bali Province Panusunan Siregar said part of the exports was shipped through Benoa Port in Denpasar, while the rest through other ports in Indonesia.
