Bang Sue electric train station in Bangkok to become junction of regional transport networks

BANGKOK, March 20 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says that the central Bang Sue electric train station in Bangkok can become a junction of national, and even regional, transport networks in the future. The Thai prime minister made the remarks while leading a team of executives from the Ministry of Transport and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to visit the station on Wednesday morning to follow up its progressive construction work, set to be completed by early 2021. "I viewed the construction of the central Bang Sue electric train station should be completed over the next two years as planned, as the station has been set to be opened to serve the public by early 2021", the prime minister told journalists. According to the Thai premier, the central Bang Sue electric train staion, once opened for public services, can become a junction of many electric train routes in Greater Bangkok that can then be connected with all other expanding transport networks in the country and even in the ASEAN Community (AC). The prime minister acknowledged that apart from becoming a central station for the improved public transport systems, the area will also be developed as a "green zone" for the recreation of people, calling on the public to help build up a new historic step for the national train services and facilities. For public land transport services during next month's Songkran, or Traditional Thai New Year, Festival 2019, the Transport Co., Ltd. under the Ministry of Transport, announced that it will provided a total of 9,000 inter-provincial bus trips daily for outbound travellers from Bangkok during April 10-13, expected to serve up to over 200,000 of them a day, and a total of 8,154 bus trips daily for inbound travellers from provincial areas to Bangkok during April 14-17, expected to cater for more than 160,000 of them a day.
