Barakat Foundation inaugurates nearly 1,000 projects

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA - The Barakat (Charity) Foundation inaugurated 998 new projects, including 140 mosques and 40 schools, on Sunday. The inauguration ceremony was held in a village in Tehran through a video-conference. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Leader’s office, Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, head of the Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam Khomeini, Mohammad Mokhber, head of the Foundation of the Oppressed, Mohammad Saeidikia, Managing Director of Barakat Foundation Aref Norouzi and Tehran Governor Issa Farhadi. Golpayegani said the foundation is determined to materialize the orders of the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei by implementing construction projects in less developed regions of the country. He noted that the projects are the Leader’s gift to people living in these regions. Mokhber also said the headquarters is carrying out 164 economic projects and 1,600 infrastructure projects across the country. Barakat Foundation, affiliated to the headquarters and operating under the supervision of the Leader’s office, has completed numerous economic development projects, including schools, roads, housing units and mosques, in addition to supplying water and electricity. In October, the foundation inaugurated 40 new schools to mark the beginning of the new Iranian academic year (Sept. 23). Mokhber said the foundation will increase the number of Barakat schools to 500 by March 2015./end
