Be More Resourceful In Facing Current Economy, Entrepreneurs Urged

LABUAN (Malaysia), April 25 (Bernama) -- Entrepreneurs need to be more resilient and resourceful in the face of current economic condition, Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM) Labuan president Yussof Mohammad said. He said those, whose business were badly affected by the slowing economy, especially in the oil and gas (O&G) sector, needed to diversify their business into consumer-driven economy. Speaking at the opening of the 19th Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce Labuan (DPMM) annual general meeting here Saturday night, he said the country’s economic climate continues to be the most critical issue confronting entrepreneurs. “Although the chamber is concern over some areas of the economy, we have confidence in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's leadership and ability to deliver economic reforms and put the economy back on track foundation,” he added. Yussof, who is also Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Business Council chairman, said the chamber expects a swift economic recovery to spur business and create jobs. Meanwhile, Yussof said a joint venture housing project between the chamber and Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) would be built in Sungai Lada and Manikar in Labuan. PR1MA Corp (PR1MA) is the country's largest affordable housing developer. -- BERNAMA
