Belgium's Economic Mission To Malaysia Brings New Dynamism - Belgian Trade Commisioner

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- The Belgium Economic Mission to Malaysia has brought new dynamism to both countries, thus making it easier to understand the business nature of each other. Belgian Trade Commisioner Eric de Lame said a common element shared by both countries was the multi-cultural population. "This has made both countries to be more open-minded and proactive to establish new business arrangements or when renewing their business contracts. "When you live in a multi-cultural country, you are geared to accept differences and this helps you to be more tolerant, pragmatic and always finding best solutions for everybody. "With this mission, we hope to make Malaysia as our gateway to Asia and likewise Belgium as the gateway for Malaysia in Europe," he told reporters after the signing ceremony of 12 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and contracts by Malaysian and Belgian companies here Tuesday. The ceremony, witnessed by Belgium's Princess Astrid, involved agreements on technology advancement, commerce, academic and food products distribution such as integrated communication softwares, chocolates, business management courses, waste management system, and healthcare. Meanwhile, de Lame hoped that through Malaysia's Halal Industry Development Corporation, Belgium would be able to grow its halal industry with Malaysia's support, not only on certification procedures but also to help market Belgium's products to Asia. "By having an exchange data and information, we also wish for our products to expand among the Muslim countries," he said. --BERNAMA
