BI Rate To Be Raised To 7.5 Pct

Jakarta, Nov 12 (Antara) - Indonesia`s Central Bank, the Bank Indonesia (BI), has announced that the BI rate has been raised by 25 basis points (bps) to 7.5 percent from a prior 7.25 percent. "During today`s Board of Governors meeting it was decided to raise the BI rate to 25 bps, with the aim to control the current account deficit during the coming days," BI`s Executive Director of Communication Department Difi A. Johansyah revealed on Tuesday. The Board of Governors meeting also decided to raise the lending facility rate from 7.25 percent to 7.5 percent and the deposit facility rate from 5.5 percent to 5.75 percent.
