BIDC 2018 held in Bangkok

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) -- The government is joining forces with the private sector to organise the 2018 Bangkok International Digital Content Festival (BIDC) during June 11-13 which it hopes will contribute to 900 million baht in trade revenues. Ms Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat, the director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion confirmed that BIDC 2018 was a joint effort between the government and major business operators. The event is a collaborative effort between the Department of International Trade Promotion, Digital Economy Promotion Agency, Convention and Exhibition Bureau, e-Learning Association of Thailand, Digital Content Association of Thailand, Thailand Animation and Computer Graphics Association (TACGA), the Bangkok ACM SIGGRAPH, the Thai Game Software Industry Association along with more than 100 other digital content operators. The event focuses on promoting joint ventures between Thai digital content operators with 38 international counterparts from Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan as well as those from the CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam) nations. Some of the leading attendees are CCTV Animation - the leading Chinese TV network, popular Ragnarok game developer Gravity from South Korea and major Malaysian TV network ASTRO Malaysia among others. TACGA is reported to have already signed a contract with TETERU a South Korean company and EEZ Production Studios (East Production Studios) - a local digital content operator; to jointly produce a 26 episode 3D animation series titled TETERU Secret of the Teddy Bear Village. The estimated production budget is more than 2.6 million US dollars (80 million baht). Another key development is the signing of MOU agreements between local operators and the Fukuoka Creative Content Association that has more than 100 world-class Japanese creative production houses as its members. The event represents an important milestone in propelling the Thai digital content sector into the international arena. (TNA)
