British investors interested in EEC

LONDON, June 22 (TNA) -- British investors are interested in the Eastern Economic Corridor project of Thailand and will visit the project site in July, Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana said. The minister acknowledged the interest during his meeting with British investors at Asia House. In the meeting were about 20 representatives of companies including Arup, HSBC, KPMG, Shell, Prudential and Wood Plc as well as Kanit Sangsubhan, secretary-general of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office. Mr Uttama said Asia House was a long-standing association of large British companies with investment interest in Asia including Thailand. He took the opportunity to present investment opportunities in the EEC which he said was designed to go along with the strategies of world economic powers like China, Japan and India targeting Southeast Asia. Mr Uttama said he informed British investors of opportunities to reach main markets namely China and Southeast Asian nations. Investors in the meeting paid much attention to the EEC, its projects and progress, and technology-centred industries related to the EEC as Britain had high technology, he said. The investors also inquired about the Thai government’s support for startups and small and medium-sized enterprises and policies on economic connection with Japan and China. Asia House members planned to visit the EEC site and earlier the visit was scheduled in July, Mr Uttama said. (TNA)
