BTS confident to complete Pink Line and Yellow Line in 3 years

BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) -- The chairman of BTS Group Holding Plc is confident that commuters can use Pink Line and Yellow Line trains within three years. Keeree Kanjanapas expressed his confidence after the cabinet approved the two electric train concessions for his company. The approval concerned Pink Line from Kae Rai to Min Buri and Yellow Line from Lat Phrao to Samrong. The construction contracts will be signed on June 16. The construction would take three years and three months and people could start to use them in late 2020, Mr Keeree said. He also said that his company would seek approval to extend Pink Line for 2.8 kilometres to reach the IMPACT exhibition and convention centre in the Muang Thong Thani housing estate. The link planned with two stations will serve visitors to IMPACT which welcomed more than 10 million visitors a year and also benefit about 150,000 residents in Muang Thong Thani, he said. The company will also propose a two-station extension of Yellow Line from Ratchada-Lat Phrao intersection to Ratchayothin intersection to adjoin Green Line. It planned to invest 6 billion baht in both extended links. The extension projects have yet to undergo environmental impact assessment and seek approval from the Mass Rapid Transit Authority, Mr Keeree said.(TNA)
