Bulgaria has highest income inequality in EU: Eurostat

Among the European Union member countries, Bulgaria has the highest income inequality, the 28-country bloc's statistic authority said on Thursday. As of 2017, Lithuania, Spain, Romania, Latvia and Greece followed Bulgaria, according to a Eurostat's statement. Meanwhile, Czech Republic and Slovenia posted the lowest income inequality, it noted. Other countries, where the lowest income inequality was seen, were Finland, Slovakia and Belgium. "One important measure of income distribution is the ratio of total income received by the 20% of the population with the highest income to that received by the 20% of the population with the lowest income, known as the income quintile share ratio," Eurostat said.
