Business and representatives of Japanese government to participate in EEF-2018

TOKYO, December 19. /TASS/. The Japanese delegation, including representatives of business and government, will participate in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) 2018, which will be held in September in Vladivostok, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko said in an interview with TASS. "Representatives of business circles and the government of Japan plan to participate in the annual Eastern Economic Forum," he said. The forum is not the only place for active contacts between business and authorities of the two countries. A representative delegation led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to visit the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in May of next year. The Japanese companies are also expected to make an appearance at the Innoprom fair next year. "Constructively using round tables and business events for Japanese and Russian business circles that will be held in the framework of these forums next year, we would like to expand exchanges between Japanese and Russian companies, specify projects and further develop Japanese-Russian economic cooperation," the Minister said. Contacts between Russia and Japan have significantly intensified recently, both at the highest level, and at the level of business representatives. The basis for the development of economic cooperation between Russia and Japan in recent years has been the eight-point plan proposed by the Japanese Prime Minister in May 2016. The document includes strengthening the relations between the two countries in energy, small and medium business, industrialization of the Far East, expansion of the export base. It includes a proposal to strengthen cooperation in the field of advanced technologies, including nuclear energy, as well as in the field of humanitarian exchanges. Read more
