Cab To Expand Taxi E-Hailing App To Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Taxi e-hailing provider Cab Auto Bus Sdn Bhd (CAB) plans to expand its 2GO application to Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines in the middle of next year. Executive Chairman Tengku Hasmadi Tengku Hashim said the company was in talks with the authorities in Jakarta, Bangkok and Manila in the quest to promote the application jointly. He said the company had also received a request for the application from Turkey. "We are working to enter into collaborations with the cities. That's our focus right now," he told reporters after launching the 2GO application, a home-grown product, here Tuesday. Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation Chief Executive Officer Dzulkifli Mahmud was present. Tengku Hasmadi said the company was aiming for 10,000 drivers to register for the 2GO application next year from 1,800 at present. "CAB has also forged understanding with several taxi companies in the country to make the 2GO application a success to ensure that our taxi industry will not to lag behind in this era of drastic changes in e-hailing services," he added. Tengku Hasmadi said company was also targeting an additional 30,000 to 40,000 users to download the application from 3,000 at present. He said CAB had spent over US$223,239 (RM1 million) to develop the application and planned to further invest between US$446,478 (RM2 million) and US$669,717 (RM3 million) to develop additional modules from two -- 2GO Personal and 2GO Official -- at present. (US$1 = RM4.47) The 2GO Personal is for personal booking, for which payment is made through credit/debit card or cash, while the 2GO Official caters to employees of the private and public sectors to book a taxi for official duties. -- BERNAMA
