Cairo hosts meeting of Azerbaijan-Egypt Intergovernmental Commission

Cairo, February 23, AZERTAC The fourth meeting of the Azerbaijani-Egyptian intergovernmental commission for economic and technical scientific cooperation was held in Cairo. Azerbaijan`s Minister of Economy, Shahin Mustafayev and Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr chaired the meeting. They discussed a range of issues, including expansion of legal-agreement base between Azerbaijan and Egypt, as well as cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, energy, communications and information technologies, tourism, agriculture, environment, education, health, youth and sports. Mr. Mustafayev highlighted friendly relations between the two countries which were founded 27 years ago. He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits of the heads of states in development of bilateral relations between the two countries. On the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Minister applauded Egypt`s back of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity. He said there is great potential for boosting trade relations between the two countries. The Minister spoke of energy cooperation, as well as successful relations between SOCAR and Egypt`s State Company. The Minister said steadily developing political relations create great opportunities for boosting the Azerbaijan-Egypt economic cooperation. They stressed the role of the intergovernmental commission in developing the economic relations. Mr. Mustafayev provided information about Azerbaijan`s economy, highlighted the international projects carried out under the country`s initiative. Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijani delegation`s visit to Cairo. The Minister noted his country was interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan, adding there is great potential for deepening bonds.
