Central Sulawesi Bulog Has Commercial Units

Palu, Central Sulawesi, Aug 26 (Antara) - The Central Sulawesi branch of the state owned board of logistics (BULOG) has developed commercial unit in a bid to increase the income of the agency. The Central Sulawesi Bulog operates only in buying and selling rice to maintain price stability for the strategic commodity in the province. Head of the Central Sulawesi Bulog Mar`uf said here on Tuesday the new business unit operates in tuna, soybean and sugar trade. However, until now realization is only in sugar and soybean business, Mar`uf said, adding business in tuna fish is still in the process of preparation. The Central Sulawesi Bulog has sought cooperation with tuna fish exporters in Makassar and Bali, and in principle they had agreed to cooperate, he said. He said in sugar business the regional office of BULOG already supplied 700 tons of refined sugar from local producers to markets in Central Sulawesi. The sugar bought by BULOG from local producers could be used by the logistic board to support operation to maintain market stability in the region. Business in soybean is already running well with a number of soybean cake and curd producers in the province ready to buy soybean from BULOG. Mar`uf said BULOG had received fairly big orders for soybean and BULOG promised to meet all of the orders. He said soybean is brought in to Palu from Surabaya , East Java, adding BULOG has placed order for 3 tons of soybean from Surabaya.
